Graphic Design 1

In Graphic Design 1, we learned the basic tools of Adobe Illustrator,  color harmonies, typography, fonts, designs of different decades, and logo design.

2021-2022

01

Mandala Page Layout

11 x 17

Adobe Illustrator

Using the Patter Brush tool in Adobe Illustrator, I made mandalas with objects and shapes representing myself. The objects are explained in a infographic style on the poster.

The shades and tints of orange were chosen to give a warm and cozy feeling, the slab serif was also used to the same purpose.

Self Silhouettes

8.5 x 11

Adobe Illustrator

The Self Silhouette explores our personality, and who we look up to in our life, as well as our interactions with them and how they affect us.

With this project, I tried to represent my parent's guidance.

Typography Practices

8.5 x 11

Adobe Illustrator

First project after the introduction of typography. Practice making typography based on different decades.

William Morris: Inspired by his wallpaper designs, I attempted to recreate a similar feeling based on the shapes and colors he used in his Strawberry Thief  wallpaper design.

Victorian: Inspired by the shapes and text arrangement from Victorian ads, I attempted to recreate similar typography.

Victorian Typography

11 x 17

Adobe Illustrator

A typography poster created after more research of Victorian ads and designs.

The text in this typography is a self-written haiku.

This typography used elements in Victorian designs like the alignment of text in the center, the drop shadows of the text,

Time Capsule Typography

8.5 x 11

Adobe Illustrator

A typography poster based on the 70s design elements. Using fonts and colors from authentic 70s ads, album covers, and magazines.

This typography was created to showcase and capture the feeling I had during the pandemic of 2020 through a self-written haiku.

Client:

Tustin Unified Educational Technology

Tustin Unified Educational Technology is a website dedicated to support teachers and students in accessing, utilizing, and troubleshooting educational technology.

They wanted a logo that represented their core values, which are: creative, innovative, connected, and supportive.

The final chosen logo was number 1 out of the 3 I designed. This logo is a geometric person leaning on a question mark, representing innovative and supportive. The rough geometric shapes also adds to the creative aspects of the company.
